Sue and Alan Parr welcome you to the world of Pruso HPR's. We are a small kennel based on the south coast of England near Brighton in East Sussex. Our aim is to breed good looking working dogs that are fit for purpose with temperament, breed type and conformation top of the list. All our dogs live in the house as do any puppies we breed and we only breed when we want a puppy Where does the affix come from? Well, when registering an affix you have to choose 6 names and it was the last choice, scrabbled together as by then the ideas had dried up and we didn't expect to end up with last choice. Its made up from the first two letters in the names of the three dogs Sue owned when registering the affix. P for Purdy, RU for Rufus, SO for Oscar. The first Pruso litter was born in November 1982 from Birkenwald Bellisa. Belle was mated to Ch Geramers Sea Venom (Blue) and produced a litter of nine puppies, the girls all had Belle in thier names after mum and the boys Blue after Dad and we kept P Singin the Blues (Boris) and his better know brother P Electrik Blue (Oliver) their sister P Belle of the Ball (Mitzi) went on breeding terms and produced our P Rythm n Blue (Poppy). Mitzi was eventually re-homed with Anne and John Baker, starting their love of this breed. When choosing a stud dog for one of out girls we look for a dog that has good temperament, character and working ability and he must be pleasing on the eye. Some of our dogs have been shown with a fair degree of success, one full champion, one show champion, two other CC winners and many others that have been consistently placed and gained stud book entry. Several dogs have been successfully field trialed or entered in working tests. Many have spent their lives as working dogs either on shoots or with falconers, while the rest have been happy family pets. And why do all our dogs have Blue in the name? Simple answer, in memory of the first stud dog we used, Ch Geramers Sea Venom, known to his friends as Blue. He was, in our opinion, the best dual purpose dog in the breed. Alan has owned a couple of GWP's who are sadly no longer with us and we have recently added a Bracco Italiano Bonario Chatelaine (Celli) to our doggy family We hope you enjoy visiting the world of Pruso, if you like this site and our dogs or would like any help or advice regarding GSP's please contact us either by email (click the button above) or phone 01273 386292, we would love to chat to you
